AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a surprising crossover event that defies usual predictions, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of banned ceremonies and terrifying transformations reverberate through the shadows." The narrative features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden sect.
The questline concentrates on "bizarre trials and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Changes
The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Extra Content
Players who finish the mission will receive an unique katana alongside numerous objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Content
This patch also adds the game's third free story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature abilities: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Partnerships
This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
